The Presbyterian Church is organized around a board of church elders. When the elders meet, the meeting is known as a SESSION MEETING (from a Scottish term; i.e., “the elders are in session.”)
Elders are lay people elected from the congregation by the congregation to assist the pastor in his or her work, forming a ministry team that exercises oversite and coordination of the workings of the church.
The Church Session meets every month on the second Tuesday of the month.
