Women’s Bible Study
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY Every Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. women meet to focus in the Bible through guided study and focused discussion. Hot Meal
On Monday nights our doors are open to the community to serve a free hot meal to any who may be in need. In Mount Vernon, different churches take turns serving a free meal to the community.
Men’s Bible Study
Every Tuesday men are invited during their lunch hour to come and focus on what is important – their walk with Jesus Christ. This is a free flow discussion on how the Bible and our lives intersect. No materials other than a Bible is necessary. We have plenty on hand if you come without a copy of the Bible. This study meets on Tuesdays at 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Church Kitchen.
Contemporary Worship
On Sunday’s at 9:00 am we gather in the sanctuary for an informal, more conversational service, meeting with God and with one another, hearing the Word preached and receiving Communion. Deacons’ Ministry
A vital avenue of service is through our Board of Deacons. They specialize in helping people connect with people within and beyond the church. In the scope of their care: Keeping in touch with the home-bound and those in nursing care facilities, funeral meals, putting exam boxes together for our college students.
Men’s Prayer Breakfast
Guy time. Guy food. This is a great time of fellowship, physical food and spiritual food (usually) on the first Saturday of the month. However, if a holiday falls on a Saturday, we will meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month. We meet in the Church Parlor from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. No materials to buy. Just come and be enriched by this event. It all points to how our lives can bring greater glory to Jesus.
Session Meeting
The Presbyterian Church is organized around a board of church elders. When the elders meet, the meeting is known as a SESSION MEETING (from a Scottish term; i.e., “the elders are in session.”) Elders are lay people elected from the congregation by the congregation to assist the pastor in his or her work, forming a ministry team that exercises oversite and coordination of the workings of the church.
